Curriculum
Contact Hours:

100 hours Techniques
including demonstration, alignment, practice and theory of Shiva~Shakti yogasana, pranayama, meditation, mudra, and bandhas.

20 hours Anatomy and Philosophy
A scientific, hands-on approach to human A&P in regards to yoga practice. Includes the therapeutic application of yoga on various systems of the body.

30 hours Philosophy
lectures provide the student with a foundational understanding of yogic history, thought and methodology. Topics covered include Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Kundalini, 8 limbs of yoga, 3 Gunas, Nadis, energy anatomy, Ayurvedic principles, Sanskrit, Mantra, etc.

25 hours Teaching Methodology
Various aspects of teaching asana, including demonstration, observation, correction, sequencing, voice, etc. The student will learn correct alignment, adjustments and assists for all basic Shiva~Shakti yogasana. Sequencing of poses, classes for various ability levels, and oral presentation are included in this class. Creating the proper environment for a class and teaching ethics are also covered. Includes some practice teaching.

10 hours Practicum
Teacher trainees gain experience teaching under the guidance of the staff. The student will gain experience teaching in small groups and receiving feedback from instructors and peers. A self-care component is also included, offering the student a chance to work more deeply on him/herself.

15 hours Yoga Alignment & Adjustments
The Art of Yoga is adapting classical Yoga practices to suit an individual’s wellness goals.

In regular Yoga classes, the student tries to perfect Yoga practices whereas in Yoga Therapy, the teacher facilitates the modification of Yoga practices for individual needs. In classical Yoga, you go after the pose whereas in Yoga Therapy the pose comes to you via the Yoga Therapist. Function over form in addition to wellness over perfection defines the Therapeutic Yoga approach.

Yoga Therapy (Yoga Citkitsa) includes individualizing āsana (postural), prānāyāma (breathing), and meditation (pratyāhāra to dhāranā to dhyānam) practices through the many tools of Yoga including chanting, Ayurveda, and yogic philosophy. It also includes looking at how you relate to the world ethically (yamas) and to yourself through self care (niyamas).

Learning Yoga is all about learning the correct body postures. At first instance, it seems very easy but training the body to form the perfect posture is quite a different matter. Traditional Yoga training places great emphasis on correct asanas as defined in the Vedic texts. After years of hard work and experience, our teachers have crafted the finest techniques of Asana Adjustment & Alignment. A process wherein the student is guided to the perfect asana (body posture) through meticulous training and gentle nudges. Yoga postures enable smooth energy flow through the body and therefore if the posture is not right, the energy flow will be hindered. That’s why we put so much emphasis on asanas.

Offered in both Arambol Beach, Goa- India and in the USA,  Shiva Shakti Yoga Shala is a residential, adjustment & alignment based-centered 200-hour & 300-hour Hatha Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training Course fully certified by Yoga Alliance, USA.

To provide all students with the attention and mentor-ship needed to grow, we cap our program at 12 students. Our Yoga Courses are designed for all levels of students—beginner, intermediate, and advanced. We ask that complete beginners take our two-week yoga retreat before beginning training.

The course includes yoga training from a registered yoga school, course material, accommodation, and breakfast. After completing the course, students can register with Yoga Alliance as a RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher). Students should apply for a Tourist Visa for a speedy and convenient application process.
